|Thank you Google Images for this 2011 Pumpkinfest Image|
Pumpkinfest in Downtown Franklin, Tenn. is my favorite downtown Franklin street festival. It is during one of the best times of year, there are great costumes to observe (on animals and humans), there is a chili cook-off and if you are really on top of your game there is fantastic Christmas shopping thanks to the wonderful artisans participating in the craft fair.
The Heritage Foundation provides this event to the public every year. They are a great organization to support. The Foundation has helped with more preservation projects than one could list. One of the projects they worked on in the recent years is the Historic Franklin Theater that now plays a vital role in the life of downtown Franklin.
The festival will take place on Main Street near the five points from 10am-6pm this Saturday, October 26! The festival is free as well as parking. Unless you know someone who lives on Main street and can park in their driveway there is really no secret to finding parking. Maybe go early. Speaking of Main street take a walk down through the Historic homes and marvel at their beauty. They will probably have all of their Halloween decorations up and if so, they are fantastic. (Side-note: this is a great place to trick-or-treat.) If you would (and you should) like to participate in the judging of the chili cook-off the tickets are $10 for 12 samples of chili from 11am-3pm.
Enjoy the free entertainment all day and buy me something while you are there! You may even bump into Laurie!
