Guest Bloggers!

I want to wish you all a Happy Independence Day in advance, I will not be blogging next week...
however, I leave you in good hands. Three lovely ladies will be guest blogging.
Let me introduce you:

Holly Cochrane-a former Fanciful Ink bride, is an art teacher and a darn good one at that. I met Holly in college when we were both art majors. She makes amazing ceramics among many other things, too many to mention. We were roommates for a little while during her engagement, I was in her wedding and she is now going to be in mine!

Alison McQuain- Alison posted last year in my absence about her sweet little home. She is also a former Fanciful Ink bride and just so happens to be in my wedding as well (see a theme?)

Lily Glass- Lily also went to college with me and majored in art. She took Holly's wedding photos and is now taking mine in November! Her work is incredible.

Mr. & Mrs. Mouse

If you are getting married, see yourself getting married soon, or will possibly get married in the future, tuck these addresses away for a later date:

Mickey and Minnie
The Walt Disney Company
500 South Buena Vista Street
Burbank, California 91521

Cinderella and Prince Charming
P.O. Box 1000
Lake Buena Vista, Florida 32830

These four are down on my guest list. Why? Because we like you is not the answer (get it, Y? The Mickey Mouse Club song...).
You can send a wedding invitation to the Mouses and the Charmings! From Mickey and Minnie, supposedly you receive the above photo and an autograph. From the royals, a certificate...of what I'm not sure. It's most likely not a legally binding marriage certificate though. How awesome is this? I am definitely sending them an invitation to my wedding. I'll let you know what I receive in the mail.
Is it just me or is it strange that Cinderella and Charming have a P.O. Box number? No mailbox at the castle? Really? Who gets their mail? A paige? I have so many questions about this.

Summer Prep

I have not joined Tumblr yet, for fear of yet another amazing website to suck me in. However, I ran across Keep Calm and Stay Classy and love love love all the styling ideas. Fashion, for me, is a jump start to my graphic design. Balance applies, color applies, so much about aesthetic goes into both. So look around for inspiration in your closet, your friends closets, or in stores. It doesn't mean you have to buy whatever you see that you adore, it just means get inspired by it. Recreate something that you see that is out of your price range in a cheaper way, take color in an outfit and apply it to a room scheme, or us a pattern play for a very cool stationary design. It all works together. Trust me.

Designers, Take Note

Design Taxi has me loving this honest resume of a graphic designer. Fellow designers will enjoy this, my favorite part is at the end under the "Skills" section. Truth.

Also, who wouldn't want this amazing Post-It desk? How much fun would that be?

Home by Jillian Harris

Check out the PNE Prize Home that the amazing designer Jillian Harris created (former Bachelorette, my favorite one). I love her clean, sophisticated aesthetic and her neutral pallet. She fuses elegant girlyness and rustic manliness so well. I would love for her to take over the future man cave in my house!

Anchors Away

It's almost time for me to set sail on a Caribbean cruise, so I have anchors on my mind. Nothing says summer like the nautical beauty of an anchor. It's great to use for logos from a graphics standpoint, fun to incorporate into your home and classy to wear. I love the simple anchor print above from Etsy.
Here are some more I have curated on Pinterest.

Necklace Makeover DIY

My mom found a little DIY project on Pinterest that she recently did in about 5 minutes flat. I got a text of a prom-worthy rhinestone necklace one minute, completely confused and thinking she had lost her mind finally because surely she wasn't wearing that or bought that for me...and five minutes later I got a picture of a great-looking summery neon necklace that was very chic. Here are her steps and tips:

1. Find a cheap rhinestone necklace. This one was $8.99, which is perfect for projects like these!

2. Pick your paint colors-acrylic craft paint is best.

3. Dab a small amount of paint on the rhinestone and let the paint spread by itself.

4. The finished result!

A little bit of news...

I apologize for being an absent blogger lately.
I have a good reason though!
Wednesday night I got engaged!

Poor David-every picture we took he had the sun grins and I was just as bad. Oh well! We took a picnic to Arrington Vineyards where he popped the question with my grandmother's diamond in a shiny new band.
Now it is time to get ideas together and I'm sure I will be posting many ideas soon.

Welcome To My Home: Dining Room

When I bought this new house, I was excited that it had a small formal dining area. I know dining rooms are slowly on the out because it's only used a few times a year, but I love it. My grandparents' dining room furniture and china was too pretty to not put in my home. The pieces are classic and work well with small modern elegant touches I added.
Wallpaper is now all the rage again, dressed up in a graphic style. I chose a subtle metallic wallpaper with a floral pattern in the palest of turquoise and a silvery gold from Lowe's. My curtains and pendant lamp are both from Z Gallerie. The only adornment to the table is the ghost chandelier my mom gave me. If I have guests and we are using the dining room, I add some flowers. The chairs were reupholstered in a teal fabric that matches my kitchen wall color as well as accents in my living room (coming soon!) I haven't found a rug I just love yet so I'm waiting on that!
Welcome home, enjoy.
